You don't have to earn your rest.
The Focus
Rest is part of taking care of yourself, not a reward for doing enough.
The Reflection
There is always something else to do. One more email to answer, one more chore to finish, one more thing to prepare for tomorrow. If you wait until everything is done before you rest, you might be waiting a long time. Many of us have learned to measure a good day by how much we accomplished. That can make slowing down feel uncomfortable, especially when we know there are still things on our list. But you are a person, not a productivity project. Your energy, attention, and patience have limits. Ignoring those limits doesn't make you more resilient; learning to work with them can help you handle life's demands more sustainably. Rest won't solve every problem, and sometimes responsibilities really do need your attention. But there is a difference between doing what needs to be done and expecting yourself to keep going without a break. You can take your responsibilities seriously and still make room for yourself.
Today's Small Step
Set aside ten minutes to rest without trying to make the time productive. Sit outside, listen to music, stretch, or simply do nothing for a while.
A Thought to Carry With You
You are allowed to pause before everything is finished.
